4 months

Owen turned 16 weeks old. Wow my baby is growing up so fast. In the last week or so he has started to giggle. Its so cute he mostly does it when he sees himself in the mirror. So vain Owen come on. He also does it when Ryan blows on his stomach or his polar bear attacks him

He also likes to talk. The last couple nights he's woke me up talking (cooing) in his sleep. He also cries in his sleep. He tells me about his dreams when he wakes up. Last night he wanted to read me his bedtime stories.

Yesterday at church I was holding him over my shoulder and he saw some little girls in the row behind us and he got so excited and wanted to play with them. He was kicking and squirming to get to them it was so cute.

Owen has never been a big fan of tummy time. A couple days ago he found his way out of it and rolled over but he hasn't done it again since. Although, he is getting better at it, and likes it for a few minutes, but then he wants to be held.

Highlights of Sunday

Just some Owen highlights of Sunday:

Daddy woke up with him to play at 6 so mom got to sleep tell 7:30 (Dad had church meetings so I couldn't sleep longer)

Owen let out a big burp during Sunday School and everyone turned and giggled good thing he's only about 4 months.

His nap after church was just long enough so mom and dad could eat

He cried unless we went outside, so we went for a walk in the cold air that evening

Pep Talks

Owen is a pretty good sleeper, for awhile now he's only been getting up 2 times a night. I've read a few articles that say once a baby weighs 12 lbs and at 3 months they no longer have the physical need to wake up and eat in the middle of the night. We'll Owen was 14 lbs at his 2 month doctors appointment, so I figure we can at least cut out one of the feedings. A few nights ago, I started giving Owen pep talks saying you can sleep longer you can cut out the midnight feeding and just wake up around 3. That night he didn't wake up tell 3:45. Yea I slept. The next night I gave him the same Pep talk and he slept tell 3:30. I was excited it worked I was only feeding him once a night.

Then we had a relapse. He woke up at 1 and around 4, the rest of the night I lay there listing to him moan and groan. Ahhh No sleep. Last night I gave him his pep talk again and he slept tell 4!! Since he starts crying and acting tired at about 7 and I give in at 7:30 and let him go to sleep that like 8 and a half hours of sleep for him straight. To bad I can't get him to stay up an hour later so I can get more sleep. Oh well he's usually pretty good about going back to sleep and if he doesn't I put him in his swing and I go back to bed.

All About Owen!

Owen turned 2 months a couple weeks ago and today I took him to get his shots and wellness check.

Owens stats are:
Height 23.3 inches (53%)
Weight 14lbs 3oz (91%)
Head circumference 40cm (44%)

While he was laying down exercising or getting his kicks out at the doctors he was holding his legs up I never thought anything of it but the doctor says oh he's holding up his legs that's hard to do. He's doing Pilates moves. My strong baby.

Somethings Owen likes:

Looking at himself and Mom in the mirror. I say look there's Owen and Mom and he smiles at me.

Playing with Dad and having Dad bounce him on his knee then dip him down.

Laying under his play mat and watching the toys and lights. He will accidentally hit the toys as he swings his arms around. He has to be in a good mood for this one.

Sleeping in his swing all though the doctor told me I need to start sleeping training him and get him to fall asleep by himself.

Laying on the floor and watching the TV (even if its off) as I change him.

We can do Tummy Time for a couple minutes on the floor but for longer on Mommys Tummy.

And of course he likes attention! Owen Cries A Boo A Boo if he doesn't get enough attention.

Owens Blessing!

We blessed Owen on January 22, 2012. It was a great day. We all wondered if he was going to be one of those babies that cried durring the blessing but he didn't he did a great job. When Ryan held him up at the end his blue eyes were looking around and he was so excited. Eveyone oohed and Awed.

Since our apartment isn't big enough we had a picnic after church. A bunch of food family and fun.

Girl or Boy??

While visiting family last weekend I woke up at like 7:30 to feed Owen. Grandma Pett says I'm up I'll feed him. So I went back to sleep for a little bit longer. I come down an hour later with some clothes for him to wear and this is what I find.

She had a baby girl outfit with no one to give it to. I think she just wants a granddaughter. Not for a couple years sorry.

Marathon!!

Ryan this summer decided he wanted to run in the PF Changs Rock N Roll Marathon in Phoenix AZ. He did a half marathon last year and wanted to do a full one this year. Owen was due a month before the marathon so he figured that would give him time to re-adjust. He was training and his goal was to run it in 4 hours. He was on his way all set to achieve his goal then I had Owen. Since Owens birth on November 30 he hasn't run farther than 6 miles and before that the farthest he had run was 12 miles which is a half marathon. Since we weren't getting enough sleep and I wasn't making a big enough breakfast for him he couldn't run as far as he wanted durring his last month of training. About a week before the marathon I asked, knowing what you know now about having a baby would you still have signed up to run the marathon. He respond I would of done the half marathon. The day came and his new goal was to break 4 and 1/2 hours. He did just that with a time of 4 hours 26 minutes.
